Blue Hawaii Lifestyle

I love acai bowls. Seriously. I'm hooked to the stuff. I've tried some from a few different places before, including Jamba Juice (of course!), but they've always just been...okay. Good, yes...but not great.

...Today marks the end of that, because, ladies and gents, I have finally found acai bowl heaven. XD So I'd heard a lot about this place called Blue Hawaii Lifestyle before...never actually been there but I'm pretty sure I've walked by it lots of times while window shopping or burning-off-those-calories-I-got-while-stuffing-myself walks around Ala Moana (I mean, who ever pays attention to any of those fancy shmancy, ridiculously-expensive, this-was-made-for-tourists-and-not-you-locals stores around Nordstrom, anyway?) And I heard that if you want acai bowls, this is the spot to go...but alas, my procrastination-itis had gotten so bad that I put off even doing that kind of stuff >< (my friends can attest to that XD)

But, since I've started on this "food quest" this year, I've been looking around for places to (finally) go to, and ding, I remembered Blue Hawaii Lifestyle and thought, '...eh, why not??' So after my last class of the day today, I dragged my butt onto the bus and trekked to Ala Moana...and, after wandering around on the third floor before realizing I was on the wrong floor (lol), I found the little cafe (cute, noh?) -->

lol, it felt a bit awkward, but fun to play tourist, walking around and taking these pictures...I love how the shop is designed, especially that beautiful "wave" that comes out off the right-side wall. ↓

But jeez, could they have gotten any smaller stools? I mean, I'm tiny, and even I was having hard time trying to squish my butt into one of them XD

Ok, getting back to the main topic here. I think they're going for the "eat healthy" thing because their menu makes you feel like you're in a health food store..."all natural, all organic" XD And if you were wondering, they don't just sell acai bowls, but lots of other stuff too...their smoothies sounded delicious, and I think I remember them having paninis & soups too. But be warned, remember we're in Ala Moana, in the tourist shop lane in front of Nordstrom...so of course, their stuff is a bit pricier than I know most broke college students are willing to spend. Acai bowls have three sizes, small, regular, and large...small is the cheapest, at $4.50, but to be honest, its not really a "bowl"...just a small cup ><>real bowl, like moi, get the regular, which runs around $8.

For their acai bowls, they have different kinds (like the "Lemi Fresh" bowl, which has lime, and the "Dessert" bowl, which has lime juice and whipped cream). But for anyone like me who's going there for the first time, its recommended to order the Blue Hawaii Classic bowl: acai w/organic soy milk, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, granola, and honey (yum!) What I love about this place is how nicely they make the bowls, and how fresh their ingredients are (not frozen/oddly chopped pieces of fruit, weird tasting granola, or blah acai)

...This was my face when I picked up my order: O.O Really. If you think I'm being silly, take a gander at this: (-->) OMG. I'm getting hungry just looking at it again XD First bite felt like absolute heaven...the texture of the acai, the crunchy granola, and the super fresh fruits...DE-lish. ^.^ Definitely, without a doubt, the best acai bowl I've ever had....and you know I'm going back again. :)
